What Is PRF Therapy?

At River Park Dental and Esthetics, we are pleased to offer PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) therapy as a nonsurgical way to rejuvenate your facial appearance. PRF therapy is a sought-after solution for individuals who want to address fine lines, wrinkles, and under-eye bags. During PRF therapy, a plasma serum is derived by taking a sample of your own blood. The plasma contains platelets and growth factors that, when incorporated into the skin, encourage collagen growth in order to add volume and renew the appearance of the skin. Dr. Phing Saurer is an expert in performing PRF therapy to help her patients achieve their specific anti-aging goals. To further explore the benefits of PRF therapy, schedule a visit to our Dublin, OH office.

What to Expect with PRF Therapy

Once you are comfortably seated in one of our private treatment rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge machine. Usually, we draw about one vial of blood. After about 15 minutes, the components of the blood separate and are then ready for injection. We will place the condensed plasma into a sterile syringe and inject it into the treatment areas. Plasma from PRF therapy naturally promotes the production of collagen and elastin to create tighter, younger-looking skin. Because it uses your own blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reactions is very low. You should expect your face to be a little red following the procedure as some traces of red blood cells are included in the injection. A cold pack can be applied to the injection area to reduce discomfort or minor swelling.
